Problems with new Kapspersky 2015 AV program

Is anyone using the 2015 version of Kaspersky AV?

It works with all my programs except my older version 1.9x of Agent
newsreader. It does work with my older 5.x of Xnews without a problem.
Agent seems the only program it has a problem with. I get no
notifications of a problem from Kaspersky. It simply will not allow me
to download new headers without first turning off Kaspersky. However,
after downloading the headers, I can then turn Kaspersky back on and
download the newer message bodies. How weird is that?

Believe me when I tell you I have went through the dang thing and
unchecked one menu item at a time. It doesn't matter. With all of them
taken out of the mix, the same problem exists.

The 2014 version worked without a problem on my machine. The newer
version has a different interface. I don't know how many of the
settings differ from the 2014 version because I uninstalled that
version. I am really getting tired of these AV companies "improving"
their damn programs to the point where the last version worked
perfectly but the newer version is "improved" to the point that it
isn't worth using. I've run into this "improved" update version
problem before, but never to the point where the program wouldn't
allow a certain program to operate.

The only firewall I am running is the XP firewall, which also ran
during my use of the 2014 version. I do not have any other type of
anti malware or av program on the computer. Everything is as it was
when last running the Kaspersky 2014 version earlier in the day. This
2015 version of Kaspersky is strictly the AV program, not any kind of
"Internet Security" suite or anything like that.

One other thing. It is doing the same nonsense on a second computer we
have. Same exact problem.

If you are wondering why I'm not querying Kaspersky, it's because they
have a tool that you have to use which gives them entree to the info
and history of your entire computer. Read below.

My True Image program saves the day again - but only because I did
make an image of the C: before installing the 2015 version of
Kaspersky. I installed the past image containing the version 2014 and
entered the new registration. Bingo! Back in business. ALWAYS image
before installing or uninstalling new stuff.

Glad you were able to back-date, but I note that
a) your problems are caused by software that's hasn't been supported for
many, many years; and
b) you are protecting your machine with an outdated anti-malware program.

Have a good day,

You have me confused.  Which software is that?

Again, you are confusing me. I have no anti-malware program on my
machine except for my AV program.

Absolutely correct. I have Agent 6, too. It's absolutely ridiculous
the hoops Forte asked their users to learn to jump through with that
damn thing.

Agent 1.9 makes no registry entries. You can move it from directory to
directory, disk to disk, just inform it in the Menu system where to
Save or Launch a file from. Simple as Simon. How Kaspersky could have
their 2015 version in any way conflict with something so simple is a
bad mark against their AV.

I got no alerts from Kaspersky about Agent. It just seemingly bumps
heads with it at some point. When it comes down to choosing between
Agent or another piece of conflicting software, I'll keep Agent every
time. There are many AVs, but only one Agent. It's one of the last of
SIMPLE. I sincerely believe in the KISS rule: KeepItSimpleStupid.

As I said, I never had any alert. I even put into the ignore/exclusion
menu. It did no good.

No way!  I'll change AVs.

It is rare for me to upgrade to newer versions of any program unless
there is some overwhelming reason to do so. I have learned from
experience that "updating" usually means compatibility problems. I
don't need all the new bells and whistles.

That never even entered my mind, it's been so many years since I've
been to that group. When Forte went cockamamie on me with those
ludicrous 'updates' is when I stopped reading the group.

Sorry, I misread that the first time around.  As I said, I tried that
and it didn't work.
