A fair question. So I'll answer it.

You can do simple math right?

I'm still waiting for you to explain how you're going to hide something that
has to listen for incoming connections. Btw, troll, not all services are the
types that require incoming/outgoing connections; so I hope you aren't
considering a resident antivirus as something to be hidden from me? I
wouldn't put a goal post move like that past you.

The primary purpose of port knocking is to prevent an attacker from
scanning a system for potentially exploitable services by doing a port
scan, because unless the attacker sends the correct knock sequence, the
protected ports will appear closed.

See that last line? closed is a telltale, Pooh. As opposed to unreachable
or no response at all; as you'd get with my network.

It's just a different implementation of a challenge response system.

I mentioned that, but they still use the same modem the cable company
normally provides if they don't have their own.  It's just provisioned
differently.

There's nothing about that error that should get in the way of
understanding the code. The fact that you could not understand it means
there is something *else* missing.

About a week or so, actually. The original source as posted has no bugs and
works as intended. That was shared a little over a year ago with Ray and I've
yet to see him explain any functions inside of it accuratly.

What's really funny? I'm the one who pointed out the bug. Nobody else noticed
it. :) I could have kept my mouth shut and just let things continue as they
were.

Alas, Poohskie, I'm not changing jobs. I'm still very much into doing IT
things. I'm also interested in learning another trade and am nearing
completion for initial licensing in said trade. I'm extending the options I
can provide people, mr wizard. I want all the work on your new
house/commercial building; except the wood work, cabinetry and plumbing. You
can let me do your electrical AND your network/IT needs. I'm cutting out an
unnecessary person; an electrician. I'll soon be one of those too. [g]

Besides, anybody who couldn't spot the error in my code (like you and your
buddy jax, ray, bd, etc... idiots, the lot of them) who claims they read code
everyday is grossly overpaid.

Script isn't code poohskie. maybe that's what the hangup was for you. Too
complicated for pooh.

How does installing a solar array equate to installing solar panels for a
living? You really need to work on that reading comprehension. It would
help you in many discussions. And what does installing a solar array have
to do with the topic of assembler source? Jax, please, try to keep up.

I'm the operator of the FidoNet News Gate.  I have adjusted the anti-virus
software to no longer insert its "free from viruses..." blurb, which can get to
be annoying, into the gated messages.

KF> You have absolutely no room or right to critisize Burford

i asked a simple question... there was no criticism in that question at all...
where did you learn to read for comprehension?

KF> (or anyone else) about "quoting style." Your "fidonet" quoting is
KF> far worse than nearly any other. You don't even *use* a "tear
KF> line" (it's called a sig delimiter) and lately you are even
KF> including *SPAM* from your anti-virus product.

get your fact straight and learn how things really work, eh?

1. my quoting style is defacto standard for FTN networks.
2. tearlines in are not required in FTN posts.
3. they are called tearlines because everything below them can be torn off and
thrown away. ie: information below them is not required for the message body or
control lines.
4. FTN posts do not need any virus scanning since they are plain text.
5. there are no FTN posts virus scanned at my system.
6. i cannot control what the gateway system does with inbound or outbound posts
to any of the hundreds of newsgroups that are gated to FTNs.

KF> I've left your post uncorrected, to demonstrate your own complete
KF> lack of ability in the matter. Get a REAL newsreader and NNTP
 KF> service.

i have several of both and can use them for this area /if i so choose/ but i
rather read this area on my FTN BBS... if you don't like that then put me in
your block list, eh? ;)

KF> Your sig delimiter goes here. Two dashes and a space.

not mine... i don't have or need a ""sig delimiter"" ;)
