modified Dll ??

Hi:

XP home edition
Dell computer

I got suckered into cleaning up someone's computer that had no anti-spyware,
no anti-virus, no anti-ad pgms.

After clearing about 750 various virus, ads, trojan horses spyware etc.,  I
am
almost seeing daylight.

Problem 1.  Can't load Norton.

Problem 2.  Getting a message about an invalid Dll called sqldnfm.dll.
Since just about every program suddenly seems to be calling for it, I am
afraid to delete it.  I suspect that it is a modified dll and the modifying
spyware has now been deleted.  Just a guess.

I am now running spybot, adaware and spysweeper.  A test pass with register
mechanic shows about 300 or so register errors that have yet to be
corrected.

any help would be helpful

FRED

When you have a truly badly infected PC sometimes the *best* option is to wip
the PC and
re-install the OS from scratch.

Please submit a sample of "sqldnfm.dll"  to Virus Total --
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
The submission will then be tested against many different AV vendor's scanners.
That will give you an idea what it is and who recognizes it.  In addition,
unless told
otherwise, Virus Total will provide the sample to all participating vendors.

You can also submit a suspect, one at a time, via the following email URL...
mailto:scan@virustotal.com?subject=SCAN

When you get the report, please post back the exact results.

wip being the operative word when dealing with XP.

Oooops  :-)

A case of another spelling mistake completely changing the meaning of a reply.
