I just bought a new Dell that came with McAfee Security Central and a
3-month trial of VirusScan and Personal Firewall. After that I have to
renew a subscription for $40/year for VirusScan or $70 for hte two.
I did some web searching and found plenty of VirusScan 9.0 OEM discs on
sale online for $5-10 and they supposedly come with a 1-year
subscription. Is there a difference? Is there any reason not to
uninstall what I have and go with one of these OEM versions at the end
of my trial to save myself $30?
Thanks in advance.
So did a friend of mine (buy a Dell with McAfee).....and she wants to
totally remove it and put the free EZ Trust AV on that is offered via
Microsoft. I have used EZ Trust for some 5 years.....since it was the free
InoculateIT PE. I can dig up the link for it if you are interested.

OEM comes with a new computer. You shouldn't be able to buy one over
web 'legally'. Why don't you try www.kaspersky.com or www.f-secure.com
or www.bitdefender.com. I think these packages are better than what
McAfee have to offer.
