MBAM resident function?

I upgraded my MBAM, now I have a 35mb ram resident component of it loaded.
What does this component do?

I don't think it is resident protection, so shouldn't I disable loading it?

I have this registry entry "run once" D:\Program Files\Malwarebytes'
Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe /install /silent

Is that what this is? Can I disallow this as run once?

I am running W2K sp4, 800mb ram, on dual 500 p2s.

You must have upgraded to the paid version...

This is a valid program that is required to run at startup.
This program is required to run on startup in order to benefit from its
functionality or so that the program will work.
Command: C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe
/install /silent
Description: Realtime protection agent and tasktray for MalwareBytes'
Startup Type: This startup entry is started automatically from a Run,
RunOnce, RunServices, or RunServicesOnce entry in the registry.

I followed your link.  You're right. Thats what the entry was. However there
is no resident MBAM process in task mgr and no systray icon for resident

I did not upgrade to the paid version.

I think that [process running] was the main program for MBAM.
I thought  MBAM had shut down, and yet this process was still present after
I closed it after a scan.
It went away along with the reg entry when I rebooted.
So what happened with the registry entry? I don't know. Bleeping says it was
installing resident protection, yet its not there.
Also, when I opened MBAM, the process shows up just about that size. [ and
goes away when closed ]
I think the registry entry was a dummy, and it doesn't happen unless I
register and pay.

I thought the process was one similar to the SuperantiSpyware resident
component. This process does not provide resident protection, yet SAS does
not run unless this component is present when the SAS shortcut is clicked.
Its about 600k. Another unexplained mystery.

I forgot to repost that I sort of figured it out.

I wonder if you meant 1.34 > 1.35?

Some of us ( I did) read it as you went from the freeware to the paid
version.  English is such a difficult language for me... :-)

Hello Tommy:

Both paid versions of MBAM & SAS offer resident protection I believe.

Both paid versions also offer a bit more functionality too.

Best wishes,
