Rename it .exe and run it anyway!

Extensionless OLE2 files would still execute embedded macro malware on Win98
when invoked (not sure if this is still the case) - in fact any extension
that wasn't previously associated with *something* would allow it to be
recognized by its header and open it with "Word" IIRC. The fix was to put in
an association for blank and unknown extensions to be associated with
notpad.

HT's list of extensions is indeed incomplete if this is still the case
because any unregistered extensions (and blank) should be included.

win9x and above will check the file's internal structure and execute it
based on the results, if an extension map isn't found.

You can rename an exe to .dat and can still execute it from your own app
or the cli.... :)

Idiot. Yes, even in XP. I just didn't say exactly how...

Your post tells me what I've suspected. Script kiddy calibre, at best.

That can be true with Microsoft Windows,
for they are good at hiding extension,
that way a Batch File CHM is best to use..

it can run files that are on Windows,
to do all the work for you,
and not seen as a virus by a Antivirus software..

Script kiddy.

Quoted text here. Click to load it

Stupid script kiddy. Keyword, behavior blocking, etc.. would all allow
an antivirus/antimalware app to detect your batch file and many varients
of it. Batch files are in plain text..

a virus must replicate, btw.. trojans aren't viruses. You can make a
batch based virus, but short of googling for previous work, I don't
think YOU personally can do it.

"Dustin" you sound weak.  I smell your weakness.  If you were game you woul=

It would help if you'd quote that which you're referencing here. I told
you, I'm *not* going to give you a functional virus. Either full source
code or a binary. I will not teach you how to write a virus. You have a
book on the subject, I'd suggest you read it.

I'm a respected antimalware researcher and I'm not going to jeopardize
that by providing you a functional virus or teaching you how to write
one. I value the credit I've established and the respect which took me
years to get! You aren't worth it.

I will not provide you with a full functional virus, nor will I provide
you specific details on how to write one. I've given you more than
enough proof to establish who I am. Others have vouched for me.

I already put up.

I won't do your homework for you Ray. As a result of your lack of
respect, I won't respond any further.

I accepted and 0wned your challenge. That's good enough for me.

I read those lyrics and they looked familiar. I read them again and got
the cadence and realized that I knew that song. Next time I read it,
some of the tune came through - couldn't quite nail it down though.
Finally, I read it and the 'voice' came to me - it was then that I knew
what it was. Steppenwolf was one of my favorites.
