Attention new posters. Beware: ACF is under attack by a small number of
trolls who post false and misleading replies to questions here, and run
campaigns of lies against some of the long term regulars in order to get
them killfiled.

These are my recommendations to filter their malicious trollspam

By filtering out messages containing q34wsk20@yahoo.com
<< q34wsk20-at-yahoo.com>> in the "From:" header and messages containing
"ccountrynet" in the path statement you will knock out more than half or
even three quarters of the trollspamming in this group.

I also recommend filtering all crossposts, anonymous remailers, and any
posts with these providers in the path:

eternal-september.org
dotsrc.org
ccountrynet < especially this one
individual.net
easynews.com

It most probably will - it's *magical* software. ;-)

It *does* though leave 'something' behind if one uninstalls it! Did you
know that?

No. I'm not impressed with it, so I don't use it.

Sorry, I don't have time right now to dig up the exact information, but
I recollect being called in to fix a server that was behaving strangely
and the resident techy couldn't see why. It became clear to me pretty
quickly that it was malware and the installed AV was malfunctioning. I
can't remember the exact details but I installed malwarebytes and it
found nothing. I kinda new what malware it was likely to be, it had been
out a while, and I recognised the symptoms, and according to research
malwarebytes was the daddy, well it wasn't but this was

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Found it, it was what I thought it was, and it sorted it.

Well done MS.

This wasn't zero day. No excuses.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to explain. If/when you do
have a moment, can you tell me if you took the matter up with
Malwarebytes, either directly or in their forums. If you did, what kind
of reaction did you get?

It sounds as if *you* are in the computer/IT 'business'. I'm not, just
an inquisitive and interested old fella who once got his fingers burned
by the bad guys! :-)

If I like a program and/or there really isn't a good alternative, I
'might' get involved in fault reporting. I had no skin in this game.

I don't remember dealing with any antimalware vendor's helpdesk that
wasn't staffed by helpdeskscript reading Dalek's. That's par for the
course with all of the antimalware vendors I have done business with.

Well yunno BD, it's just PR blurb. It's not my thang nowadays. Many
years ago I had cause to deal with compromised servers that had good old
fashioned root kits on them. A little directory full of cut down tiny
programs like netcat, little ftp servers, remote admin tools, and stuff
to obfuscate the file system to Windows admins. It was an education, and
it was fun figuring out what these naughty boys had got up to, but times
have changed, and I don't spend my time in very noisy data centers
anymore, sorting out stuff.
