We like using F-Secure Internet Security at our company. The product
offers pretty good virus protection at a nice price and besides some
ridiculous bugs in the German interface that never got fixed like (let
me translate) "scan rootkits for spyware" ;) we have not had serious
problems with the 2006 version.
On our systems we do also have Norton System Works Premier 2005
installed, WITHOUT Norton AntiVirus. We only use the Norton Utilities,
SpeedDisk and Norton Ghost which are pretty nice programs.
Now the new IS 2007 became available and I started installing it. The
installer told me that it has detected LiveUpdate on my system and that
it has to be uninstalled in order to continue. I then clicked the
continue button (there was NO other option to continue the
installation) and this lovely installer really DELETED Symantec
LiveUpdate from my system - I could not believe this! I don't see what
the purpose of this action was but now my System Works says it needs to
be reinstalled to use LiveUpdate and my Norton programs are not able to
receive updates any more. I am really disappointed and I don't see any
reason to unistall LiveUpdate without having NAV on my system. Only
because it is a competitor's product?
So be caureful with installing F-Secure IS 2007! I have already
contacted F-Secure support, let's see what they are gonna answer.
Re: F-Secure Internet Security 2007 deletes my LiveUpdate!
simply does not work correctly when Symantec's LiveUpdate is installed.
There is no other solution to the problem.
News: Today I updated to Internet Security 2007 SP1. The installer
forced me to uninstall my Cisco VPN Client Software this time in order
to be able to continue with the installation.
I start to hate those incompatibilities because they make me uninstall
software I need :-(((
