"Top Rated" Spyware Eliminator V4.0.
It flags "hh.dat", a part of Microsoft's HTML Help Viewer, as a "severe"
It flags "unins000.exe", the "uninstall executable" for WinAvi Video
Converter, as an "elevated" TVMedia malware threat.
It flags "sporder.dll", a part of Sygate Personal Firewall v4, as
an"elevated" ShopAtHome adware threat.
It flags "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Search Assistant\ACMru03",
a part of Microsoft's Search Assistant, as an "elevated" NaughtyPops adware
It flags "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ASProtect", a part of a protection
system used to "time-limit" trial applications, as a "severe" ActivityLogger
2.0 Keylogger threat.
If flags "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\magnet", an integral part of several P2P
applications, as an "elevated" WebP2P Surveillance Software threat.
Aluria's Spyware Eliminator v4 flags all there ridiculous false positives,
but it will not flag the notorious "WhenUSearch Toolbar" as "adware" because
Aluria have struck a deal with whenusearch.com to remove its detection from
their spyware/adware definitions.
And watch out in the future, because Lavasoft (Ad-Aware) are considering
striking a similar deal with some other adware/spyware company.
I think I'll stick with a combination of Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Webroot's
SpySweeper for now, unless I hear anything different.
I have not yet come across a problem that the combined power of these two
programs could not handle.
Re: Dont be fooled by "Top Rated" Antispyware programs.
that it does find find all of the things you stated every time you
scan. I was infected with whenUSearchToolbar and Microsoft Anti-Spyware
How can these anti-spyware manufactures get away with making deals with
spyware programs, shouldn't that be illegal?
Anyway, If you find a better ant-spyware program than Spysweeper give
me a post.
Thanks for the info too.
