Now that Comodo AntiVirus is no longer a beta, I wondered whether anyone
knows how it compares with other anti-virus solutions?

Thanks.

They kept it in beta so they could discount any comparison testing with
other anti-virus software.  "It's in beta" would be their excuse.  They
never took it out of beta.  Instead they rolled it into a suite with
their firewall which includes HIPS (because they were going to add HIPS
to their antivirus software but decided to reuse the one with their
firewall).  So now if anyone tests just the antivirus portion of their
Internet Suite (i.e., with HIPS disabled) then they'll claim that the
test was unfair and that HIPS must be enabled (which turns the user into
the detection engine).

Comodo AntiVirus is now part of Comodo Internet Security suite
Comodo Internet Security = Comodo AntiVirus + Comodo Firewall

The only testing that I saw was a separate test at av-comparatives
somewhere about 1.5 years ago that showed it only detected 38% of their
pest sample (and I don't even recall how bad it was at disinfecting the
host).

If I was to go back to the Comodo firewall, and because it's now stuck
within a suite, I'd see if I could do a custom install of their Internet
Suite to NOT include their anti-virus component.  I'll trust someone
else with that duty.

It is now out of beta which is why I asked the question.

I've yet to see any real advantage of a third party firewall over windows'
own one, so its only the antivirus part that I'm interested in.

Yes, I couldn't find anything newer (hence the post).

I know they allow the anti-virus to be installed without the firewall, so I
*assume* you can install the firewall without the anti-virus (but haven't
tried).

Thats what I did, installed only the firewall, I do like comodo's firewall.

On my Win server I use Avira premium, comodo's firewall and Windows Defender.
