Comcast will cut off newsgroup service at the end of October. What do I do

Thanks,
Joan

I started using Motzarella about 18 months ago.  I like them as opposed
to aioe.org which was cancelling out one of my friend's posts.

Motzarella has a *new user* news group and Ray and David are both
extremely helpful.  I have also received prompt answers by email.

IOW, I highly recommend Motzarella.   But do have 2 others on here that
are not active unless I decide I need one of them.  May have a look at
that one that bans Google posts.  That is a major plus!!

I find that Motzarella has a very good handle on spam on the news
groups.  I don't see all that much until someone decides to answer it
and leaves the spam in.

Re: Comcast

I can recommend Motzarella  as well, Teranews seem to be a bit out of it
these days and aioe quite often fail as well.

LOL!!  Hey, I just might have some old Air Show stuff for you.  I ran
the Toronto Canadian Int'l Air Show many eons ago.  You and Shane would
get along famously if it is airplanes you are interested in.  He loves
the olde English ones.

Options for free or low cost news servers.

Stay away from Teranews except bunny downloading. This server sometimes
fails to propagate well.

individual.net

http://news.individual.net /

Registration required. Price 10 euros a year. No binaries. No sex
groups. No nonsense. This is a very
dependable server for text. Spam filtering is superior to most other
servers I've used.

newsgate. xprivat.org

http://www.x-privat.org/international.php

Registration required. Price 9 Euros a year and up. Text and some (few)
binaries. This server is faster
than individual.net but may lack some groups. Its binary completion
should not be depended upon. A
free server is also available. Registration required.

sunsite.dk

http://dotsrc.org/usenet /

Free text only, registration required. This server  now only carries
the comp groups.

news.aioe

http://news.aioe.org /

No registration required. Free server. Text only.  Limit of 25 posts
per day.

Motzarella.org
http://motzarella.org /

A free server, registration required.

"Apart from de.* (including de.alt.dateien.*) news.motzarella.org
carries the Big 8, alt.* (approx. 8000
groups) and several regional hierarchies (more than 200).

For tests, information and support for users of news.motzarella.org the
local hierarchy motzarella.* is
open to unregistered users, too. Retention is currently 1 year for de.
*, 40 days for alt.* and 30 days for
the Big 8 and other hierarchies."

I don't know much about newsgroups(really nothing), except what I get on
Outlook Express, and it comes through my ISP.  My question is:  What would I
gain over what I now get versus a paid subscription?  I see them from $10 a
month all the way to $100, and maybe more.  Am I missing something that I
don't know I'm missing just from not knowing?
