Well my reply was yes, I do trust MS Essentials since I use it. However,
I have used the others mentioned and they are fine too. Telling a gal
she's pretty doesn't automatically imply all the other gals in the room
are ugly.

As far as snipping attributes, I'm afraid I too might be delinquent in
that area occasionally due to carelessness.

I notice that Avast does not offer an option of when to run the daily
scan or the daily update.
Or maybe I just haven't found the control setting yet.
Or maybe it doesn't need t run a daily scan and updat4es when the update
is released.

Well, I found the setting for scheduled scan and set it.
I had to turn off the spinning ball in the system tray - it was driving
me nuts.

It's a shame that AVG Free 2011 appears to have been brought out too
soon and that the problems haven't been addressed.  2011 is also
interfering with some types of e-mail.  The work around appears to be to
uninstall then reinstall with the setup configured to NOT scan e-mail at
all.

I guess I'm an Avast fan now, after years with AVG.

Avast already scans in realtime, all the time. Default auto-update is
set to 240 minutes (enough for me).
