I just installed BitDefender 10 plus, and am using it with the
following email clients:
Bat works fine, Eudora seems to retrieve email (via POP3D), but I would
say that every other POP connect will end with Euroda indicating
"connection reset by remote side (10054)" -even when this happens, I
seemingly still get my mail, but it's unacceptable to keep seeing an
status pane appear.
I communicated this with BitDefender, and they are aware of the issue
(going back to 2004):
The BitDefender support representative indicated to simply uncheck
"Incoming Email Scanning", and this does cause the problem to go away
-and they claim a virus will still be caught when the email is opened,
etc., but I don't really regard this as a solution -just a workaround
possibly a known bug...?
I never had this problem with Norton Antivirus.
Anyone else have this problem with Eudora, or any other email

Re: BitDefender email client "connection reset by remote side" ...?

Yes, with BitDefender 10 and Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0.6. Same problem:
real-time scanning of incoming e-mail causes loss of connection,
disabling it works around. It only occurs on e-mails with fairly large
attachments, particularly images and PDFs. BitDefender is no help,
because their site is down.
