Update from Premium 2012 to Premium 2013 is free.

First, save your "hbdev.key" file somewhere safe, uninstall your old
version and then install the new one.

I simply clicked on the link on the (Avira) pop-up window offering a free
upgrade to the 2013 version and then selected the free 2013 update. :-)
Running the downloaded file downloaded the new version, removed the old
version, wanted a system reboot and then installed the new version.

Finally, login to your Avira account and check "Automatic Renewal" to be
set the way you want it to be.

Just download the installer. It is around 100Mb. It will
completely remove the 2012 install. (hence the warning to save the
.key file beforehand).
BTW, I use the free version. Think anything heavier is an
overkill.

And use your license key. In "menu" somewhere.

(your license key will be in the Avira folder, called
hbedv.key or somesuch .... put it in a safe place before upgrading, my
upgrade deleted the folder)

I dunno, but I like Avira--it is very thorough--even the freeware version.  An
occasional popup advert when I access it is not a big deal for me.

I also like the HITMAN PRO freeware (free if you use it as a 'scan once only'
scanner--be careful during install not to install the whole thing since you'll
only have it for 21 days if you do).

If you could code even a little, you'd know how the marking works and
how to reverse it. [g]

Whatever.  I don't know how HITMAN does the timestamp business that keeps i=
t free for 21 days, and likely neither do you, but it's probably a simple t=
imestamp like the C# DateTime structure that it gets from your system clock=
.  Setting your clock to the same day every time you boot up presumably wil=
l keep a program like HITMAN on your system for free, forever.
