Thanks for the heads up on the Linksys.

A Sharon Franks posted on June 3 in MS.Pub.Sec.Virus -- with a sig Sharon
Franks MCC group, Microsoft Cert Solutions Developer, Microsoft Cert
Trainer.   That is Butts getting in touch with his feminine side, huh??  If
not - I feel sorry for the real Ms. Franks.

Jovstar?  LOL.  I thought lulu's type style looked familar. :D

Re: AV comparisons in PC Mag

I don't post as Sharon Franks. I use my real name and my MS MVP sig when I
post to MS newsgroups.
Why are you worried about me?

Yes, you do post as Sharon Franks - the same IP has been used by both
Nyms on numerous postings over the years. You are not and have never
been a MVP according to Microsoft.

I'm amazed Microsoft puts up with that shit on their servers. MCBP would be
a good sig line for Butts..  MCBP could stand for (Microsoft Cert.
Borderline Peronality.,) I like it... it has a distinct ring to it.  :D

Strictly opinion but I prefer stand-alone, purpose-built applications rather
than suites.

You didn't ask but I run the following:

Avast A-V with a boot scan about once/month
ZoneAlarm firewall
Spybot S&D
AdAware
A-squared
SuperAntiSpyware

For an actual independent review (of coverage) rather than PC Mag's
extreme advertiser bias (often their "reviews" are nothing more than
what the vendor gave them), go read http://www.av-comparatives.org /.
OneCare sucks.  Guess they should've bought a better antivirus program
than RAV.

To show how ignorant is Microsoft, they followed WinPatrol's scheme of
polling for changes to key areas but obviously that detects the changes
too late.  Anytime Windows Defender (or WinPatrol) tells you that
something changed, well, yup it got changed anywhere from a few seconds
to a minute ago.  Other intrusion prevention software, like Prevx,
intercepts the changes and pends it (i.e., the change is not allowed
unless you say so or said so before and saved that response).  Basically
Windows Defender has to perform an Undo function.  Too late.  It's
already been done by the time you get told about it.
