Anyone have trouble writing the Avira Rescue CD?  Is there a solution?

I also dl'd the Avira rescue CD.  Instead of being in .iso form, it is
an .exe file, and when I clicked on it, it brought up a box with my CD
Burner named, and the message   CD is not writeable    .

I changed CD's twice and got the same message each time.

I came across a webpage that evaluated various rescue cd's and it had
one page for Avira, which included a 30 minute video about using it.

He TOO got the same message, but a couple seconds later, it changed,
and then it changed again and then he clicked Continue or something
and got his CD.

So I went back and ran it again and left it for 30 minutes waiting for
my message to change, but it never did.

Any idea what my problem is?

Thanks a lot.

I've no idea what the problem is but I too would be interested in a
solution because I started to experience the same thing a few months ago
on two Windows XP Pro SP3 systems and it has persisted ever since.

It may be worth mentioning that if you have other CD burning software
there's an easy work-around - click "Exit" on receiving the "... not
writeable" message, click "Yes" when invited to save the ISO-image,
assign it some suitable name and save it in a convenient location. Then
burn the ISO-image to CD using your burning application - with both
Roxio and Nero 8 double clicking the ISO file icon initiates the process
and the rest is straightforward.

Boy, am I dumb! I saw that question, more than once, and thought,
"Hey, what would I want that for?  I don't need big files cluttering
up my hard drive."

This isn't the first time I've found out how dumb I am. Grades and the
SATs and LSATs don't measure this kind of dumb.

I have Nero and BurnImg, which was free.  I usually use BurnImg
because it is so simple.

Thanks.
