I just tried to run a Clamscan on drive C and it lasted about 1 second
because of this message:

Scan Started Fri Jun 12 11:13:36 2009

ERROR:
'C:" --recursive --exclude=[^\]*\.dbx$ --exclude=[^\]*\.tbb$ --exclude=[^\]*

xclude=[^\]*\.nsf$ --exclude=[^\]*\.ntf$ --exclude=[^\]*\.chm$ --kill c:\ '
doesn't exist or is not a directory

Does anyone know what this is all about?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello Alexander:

Something like that is rendered when a basic syntax error is
encountered.  It might be helpful if you reproduced the precise &
exact command you issued that resulted in the above.

Thanks for the reply but I simply dumped Clamwin. I want a RESIDENT scanner;
I like AVAST4.8 but it bogs down everything--uses way too much memory.

In that case I would suggest Avira AntiVir 9.
