Asus A7V8X-X VIA VT8377 Apollo KT400
 512 MB  (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)

I wonder if I squeze any more overclocking speed out of the current setup I

Re: Overclock question...

OED Mobile-XP's clock well - to between 2.5 and 2.7 GHz with a copper sink
and meaty fan.
A DFI NF2 mobo with good memory and the right BIOS will get you to around
260 FSB stable.

Don't waste your time or money on this. You won't get any noticable
improvement. If you really need more speed, consider an Athlon 64 system,
which can get you to more than double the performance of the K7 line.

IMO you are at the very edge of what would be possible to achieve from
your Socket A rig without investing a lot of money for so little in
return. If you do need more performance then a AMD 64 (939) rig would be
the choice to go for.

The *only* change that would make a BIG difference is if you could grab
an ATI 850XTPE AGP card, now that difference would be only apparent in
games of course.

The only consideration then is that you will have spent a lot of money
on an AGP card that will restrict your upgrade patch to a A64, except
for the Asrock ULI chipset board which has both AGP and PCI-Express slots.

Best wishes

Re: Overclock question...

Thanks everyone for your thoughts... I was considering an Athlon 64... I
probably should save my money and go with a laptop though.
