I read on some user reviews on pc worlds website www.pcworld.com that the
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe has a very noisy fan which fails in a fews days
apparently and that the bios is buggy out of the box. Some have replaced the
chipset cooler with a zalman and the bios upgrades fix the bugginess. Any
comments about this from anyone with this board? Is it worth buying or
should I wait for the next great MB to come out?
Re: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
I do not have the deluxe version but the standard A8N-SLI. They are the same
except for a few extra features on the deluxe such as two gigabit ports and
extra raid features.
The fan that came with mine was noisy. It lasted about 4 weeks and then
started to fail. I've removed the fan but kept the heatsink on it and placed
a silent 80mm fan over it.
The board has a few problems (bugs) when I got it. The biggest problem was
getting the board to recognise my hard drive (maxtor diamondmax plus 10)
When I searched the internet loads of people had the same problem. Finally
found a solution but I have forgot it now.
The most recent BIOS is pretty stable. This computer likes to randomly
restart whenever using bittorrent but I can't pin the problem on the
Overclocking is pretty average for an nforce 4 board. If I was looking for a
new motherboard now I certainly would not pick this one.
The nforce 4 chip runs very hot so if you are going to passively cool it you
would need good case cooling.
My 2 cents
