Hello been at a comp fair today and couldn't resist picking up an ASRock K8
Combo-Z motherboard for only 20! my intention just to buy a socket 939
processor possibly a A64 3200+ but I understand these are only clocked at
My current system is;
Abit NF7-S rev 2
AMD 2500+ XP running @2367Mhz 225x10.5
2x512mb corsair value memory
seagate 7200.8 250gb sata hdd
ATI 9800 pro

I am now thinking should I just try make a profit with the motherboard and
sell it on ebay or something as would it be worth while purchasing a cpu
with my already above system, I mean I gather a A64 3500+ still only runs at
2.2Ghz not sure how overclockable this ASRock motherboard is though.

Any suggestions? :-)

won't see much improvement over your current system. The 3200+ is supposed
to an excellent overclocker but the K8 combo is definitely not an
overclockers dream.

Re: advice

may not be the best for OC'n, I have an MSI K8N neo2-f and a 3700
sandiego...also have 2 Asus A7N8X's with Barton 2500's...both are running
200x11...they can't touch this unit for performance though and then when I
start to OC does seem to be real fast. But you have a decent
overclock going so I would save the coin and build a decent A64 when you are
fully ready. I have manged to hit 240 mhz with this unit...but I have a
failing SATA drive which is really limiting me now ( I hope)
