Scrollbar missing

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with my webmail, engined by Smartermail Enterprise
11.7, that I display in Firefox.

The list of messages in the selected folder is displayed without
vertical scrollbar, so that I can only display the first messages.

Using the Walnut theme for Firefox solves the problem, but I am looking
for a more specific explanation, that I could implement with the Stylish
extension. This would avoid to enforce using one specific theme.

This initially seems trivial to do, but considering the different levels
of imbrications, not that much. With the default theme, if I put
overflow:scroll to the table where the list is displayed, this gives a
scrollbar, but with no cursor.

What approach would you advise me ?

What do you mean by no cursor?

If you meant the mouse cursor, scrollbar doesn't affect how mouse cursor is
If you meant highlight (e.g. mail list item hightlight), the highlight is
likely JavaScript driven if it's affected by the scroll style.
Or you probably put the scroll style on the wrong element.

Either way, seems to me that the page use JavaScript to dynamically style
the list container using e.g. overflow-y:scroll instead of statically using

I can't confirm this since I don't have access to the actual HTML code.
Perhaps you may want to post the HTML code with censored content to jsfiddle
or pastebin, along with the relevant CSS.

Oh well, how do you call the mobile part of the scrollbar, that has a
length in proportion to the length of the scrollbar, how the shown part
in proportion to the whole document ?

I have seen calling that a cursor in many forums.
And also a word that looks like it on, which is a good
reference site, but this is published only in German and in French, it
seems, so maybe there is a translation problem somewhere.

I am afraid of that, yes.
And maybe there is an element where the style is not given by the site,
but by the theme.

Probably that is a thing to do.
Given the quantity of code to cope with, and then the quantity to
publish, I guess I ought to try and ask the question in a forum
dedicated to Smartermail.

From way back in the early days, I've always seen/heard the movable part
of the scrollbar is called the "thumb."

From :

"Scrollbars . . . usually appear on one or two sides of the viewing area as
long rectangular areas containing a bar (or thumb) that can be dragged alo
ng a trough (or track) to move the body of the document as well as two arro
ws on either end for precise adjustments. The "thumb" has different names i
n different environments: on the Macintosh it is called a "scroller";[1] on
the Java platform it is called "thumb" or "knob"; Microsoft's .NET documen
tation refers to it as "scroll box" or "scroll thumb"; in other environment
s it is called "elevator", "quint", "puck", "wiper" or "grip"."
