popups and loading time

I've been tossing around a few ideas for my oldies site.
I'm kind of leaning on the idea of perhaps using popups for some
information if it's desired to be known rather than using an iframe

That way, I could list the songs in one column, artists in the column
beside it all for the same year.

Plus I could use external JS files rather than having all that stuff
clutter up the page and loading time.

The idea also works with "popup blockers" on.
With the script from dynamic drive the windows are totally
controllable in every way.

I was wondering though, how does something like that effect loading
Such as having the "database" script included on the page as to having
files called on demand?

We are talking of records on the page of over 1,000 but all text and
fairly short stuff.

Quoted text here. Click to load it

Think maybe I found a solution.
In this script version that utillizes ajax, you can show and hide a
division which actually calls up an external file.
Which would eliminate iframes and thus I wouldn't need to have a huge
file to load on top of it.
