<a href="news:alt.html">alt.html</a>

would link to the alt.html group. BUT and this is a big BUT, this doesn't
specify the newgroup server. So the newsgroup client will try to use its
default newsgroup account which for Vista PCs is typically "Microsoft
Communities" ( which doens't carry any of the alt

If you know the name of a public newsgroup server then you can add that to
the link, eg:

links to the newsgroup which is available on
the server Only include a link to the newsgroup server
if its a public server. For example your ISP probably provides you with a
newsgroup server which you can use to access newsgroups, but unless you use
the same ISP as me I won't be able to use the same server as you.

Hope this helps.

Under standard html, the most you can achieve is to link to an
existing message somewhere. Which is usually done with the message id.
