made changes to a web page because it has dead links in it and have uploaded
it to my we site. When I click on the new link, however, it still attempts
to open the old link. The link works perfectly on my desktop but defaults
back to the old link on the web page. I've tried deleting all of the files
on my web page and then uploading all new files as they are (working) on my
computer. If I view the source on the web page it still shows the old link.
If I upload the html from the web site to my desktop it shows the new link.
How can I fix this?
Check the place to which you think you are uploading the changed files.
I am guessing that you are pointing to a different place than that from
which the server is serving them on the Web. (Two sets of files (not
counting your desktop), two different results.)
BTW, one of my sites requires my files to be in the public_html folder
under the domain name. If I copy my files to the domain itself, they are
not "seen" by the server and no visitor can access them.
