Auto Advance Form Fields ?

Is there a neat new way to cause the cursor (focus) to advance to the
next form field when the previous field has reached the stated
maxlength ?  

I know how I can do it with Javascript but I am wondering if there are
any new tricks I am not familiar with that would do the job without
relying on JS code.

Some (not all) Microsoft products do this in their license key fields. When
I'm filling them in they inevitably end up with field 1 containing the data
for field 1, field 2 being blank, field 3 containing the data for field 2,

Forms almost never do that, so those that do break rule one of usability
