I purchased an Alienware area 51 M-7700 that needs a new motherboard
and being that it is such an expensive laptop I would like to have the
mobo installed by someone very familiar with the product. I could
send it back to alienware but would rather keep it somewhat local.
Any one know of a highly reputable repair shop in the Sacrmento CA
area that might do the installation for me? Thanks

Well. If you had an extended warranty, you would know to whom to send it.

There are five or six or so major contract refurbishers in the US that
do repairs on computer equipment covered by extended warranties from
large resellers. Google 'notebook repair companies' to get an idea.

Most of these companies are subsidized by computer manufacturers,
resellers, etc., in addition to the cost of the extended warranty so
that their out of warranty repair charges are not going to be inexpensive.

Given your situation, I think I would send it back to AlienWare for
evaluation. Be aware that computer capabilities are likely well
advanced with respect to the capabilities of your notebook, and you will
likely have the choice at about equal cost to you of buying a new
notebook or having your current notebook repaired.
