I've got an Orange SPV600 that has been happily syncing for the past
few months. Suddendly it's started giving this error message
"activesync encountered a problem on the desktop support code
86000107". The strange thing is a colleague also started getting this
message although he uses a different device ( iMate KJAM I think ).

The only consistent thing appears to be the recent Windows XP upgrade.

We are both on the same Exchange server.

Any ideas? This is really frustrating.

Rob.

If you have recently upgraded to Windows XP, maybe the firewall has been
turned on that wasn't on before.
Re-installing ActiveSync might re-set the firewall parameters correctly.
Alternatively, try the new beta of ActiveSync V4.2 (from Microsoft.com) to
see if that clears the error.

Hi,
Since you upgraded to XP, you need to reinstall ActiveSync.

Couple of things. I didn't "upgrade to XP". It was just a regular
Windows Update. The other thing is that it does work sometimes. Only
way I can see of doing it is by deselecting all of the things I sync.
Letting it Sync "nothing". Then selecting them one at a time. However
after a few hours it starts playing up again.

Is there anyway of knowing what that error code "means"?

Is there any way of knowing what that error code "means"? [/B][/QUOTE] The
internet is 'empty' regarding this question. It took me 8 hours to find
nothing. The error code stays unexplained, even MS hotline is helpless. From
uncounted try-and-error hours spent it 'means' to me that somewhere in your
synced data there is a corrupt entry (from the weird point of view of
ActiveSync) and the 'only' action you have to perform is: export all Outlook
data (in another pst file), backup all files synced, copy and move all
favourites, thus flush anything synced, de-select all options, sync 'empty
(as you described), re-import, re-copy, move back and the like, select all
options and sync again while crossing your fingers. It worked for me, but no
warrants...
