Hi,

I can see oma via internet over GPRS.

If I try to sync, I get: UNable to connect. Verify your dail-up or proxy
setting are correct and try again - error code CONNMGR_36.

What I need is to tell it to sync via GPRS not dial up.

Any advice?

Cheers,

NEIL

Our OMA connectivity is via https://our.domain.name/oma.

I synch by going to activesync on my SP3 - Menu, Options, Server settings,
Connection. I then put in my username and password, and put in
our.domain.name (as above) in the servername and tick the SSL box. It works,
sweet as a nut.

Have you tried that?

Yes, I connect via GPRS.

I tried putting in our IP address instead of the domain name, but the
certificate failed (should have guessed) with the following message:-
'Synchronization failed due to an incorrect SSL certificate common name (in
the Host name field). For example, you may have entered www.server.com, when
the common name on the certificate is actually www.different.com. Make sure
the server name is entered correctly and try again.
Error code: INTERNET_38'

That's what a call a specific error message!

Silly question, but you have ticked the SSL box?

Ah, I've no idea about certificates! Infact, I didn't even appreciate one
had to be present. If you are willing and able, can you explain to me what I
need to do to get one?

I was worried about the SSL part of the equation - my server doesn't even
seem to be running SSL, but again, I'm out of my depth here.

Another issue - I dont have an externally facing domain name (well, not
connected to my server anyway) and only use a (frxed) IP address.

I have tried to speak to Oragne about all this, but they say if GPRS is
working (ie I can open an internet page) they can't offer any further
advice!
