XP USER ACCOUNTS jfguerra 05-21-2007

I recently re-installed XP after a hard drive crash. I initially created a
user called MainUser. I then renamed it to MainUser01 using the Computer
Management - System Tools = Local Users and Groups - Users tool. The User
Accounts screen only shows MainUser01. However, now instead of having 5
sub-folders under Documents and Settings (All Users, Default User,
MainUser01, LocalService and NetworkService) I have 6 (All Users, Default
User, MainUser01, MainUser, LocalService and NetworkService). Ordinarily I
would ignore this but I installed some additional software (Plaxo) and it
wound up in the Start Menu - Programs sub-folder of MainUser, NOT MainUser01.

Here's my question. How can safely delete the MainUser sub-folder from
Documents and Settings without messing anything up?

THanks!

Those are just shortcuts, copy or move then to the all users or your
profile and then delete the profile you're no longer using. Software
(at least half way decent software) doesn't install in a users
profile.

Michaek:
Thank you for your answer. There is one other item I forgot to mention. I
also noticed that the list of all the documents I had recently opened (My
Recent Documents) was actually in the MainUser folder and not in the
MainUser01 folder. If I do delete the MainUser, is that going to cause
problems since XP for some reason is putting the list of the most recently
opened documents in the MainUser account/folder?

Thanks!

I keep coming up with new info on this problem...

I was not able to rename or delete the MainUser folder. This is getting
weirder.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
