OMG...I can't believe the frustration I went through because of SP3 and now I
finally know what happened. Dell tech support spent 3 hours with me trying
every option possible to repair/reformat/reinstall my hard drive. All my
work for the past 2 years was lost. Even more heartbreaking is that my
internet backup would not reload my data. We should be compensated in some
way for this.

Is there any update on this problem with Media Center Edition and Service
Pack 3? Evidently, I downloaded it back in May, very soon after the
"critical" update was released. This is before Microsoft realized there would
be a HUGE problem, and now has all of these step-by-step warnings on what to
do BEFORE installing the update. I ran out of time trying to fix it, but did
try to reinstall Windows XP with the only repair disk Dell provided me. Then,
I found out I couldn't use that to reinstall MCE. Only half of the programs
work, and I have to disconnect my anti-virus program to connect to a wireless
connection. My Dell Inspiron E1505 is less than 2 years old, and now almost
worthless.

I am now willing to lose all of my data, to regain use of my notebook. Can
Microsoft provide me with the software to reinstall or upgrade my computer to
Windows Visa, or if not, can I purchase the software and completely do a new
install to repair the problem?
