Hi,

If no new pages are added to a site but content is regularly updated, is it
still worth updating the XML sitemap regularly, or just leave it until new
pages are added?

I just wondered whether Google or any of the others did much with the
<lastmod> tag, or any of the other tags except <loc> which is obviously
used.

I believe search engines use the <lastmod> tag.

(But if you are unsure, try test it. See how long time
Google is about updating e.g. title shown in SERPs.)

It's difficult to say but I imagine they'd not let their spiders be
overruled by what was in a sitemap.
