Windows Server 2008 installs with its 'private' profile set to block
anything for which there is no matching rule. I tried everything I could
think of to create a rule that would allow a client machine (Windows Vista)
on the local private network to access the IIS server on 2008, but nothing
got through. (I tried port 80 and I tried port 1024 to access Virtual
Server.) I did verify that Server 2008 was using its private profile.
When I reset the 2008 private profile to allow all traffic, I got in just
fine. So I KNOW the problem is with the rules. Where can I find
documentation on writing rules?
(My experience with ISA server goes back to the first Beta program and I've
written lots of rules for that. The experience doesn't seem to be helping me
now.)
