Windows keeps changing my default printer to image writer, no matter where or
how many times I change my default printer designation. Whenever I reboot it
changes it back. This didn't happen until the MS updates 2 weeks ago. It's
very frustration. How can I fix this?

Where are you changing the default printer?

The correct place is Control Panel > Printers and Fax, Right click the
printer you want to be default, set as default printer. The current default
printer will have a black check mark.

If that does not fix the problem, maybe remove the 2 week old MS updates.

I was changing it in the printers and faxes. I've also tried changing it in
each office suite app when it didn't work in the printers and faxes. I may
try backing off the updates.

This really isn't a Media Center issue, you might consider reposting this
question in a newsgroup pertaining to general problem for your OS (whatever
that might be). You might also try the microsoft.public.widowsupdates forum
to see if this is a common problem with a particular update.
