Is the WDS Tray icon running? (the little magnifying glass?)
If it is, can you right-click on it and click "Indexing Status" to see if
the indexer is running? If you see dashes next to "Items indexed:" it means
the indexer process isn't running. Opening the status dialog should kick it
into starting up. If it doesn't, there's likely a problem with your system
configuration.
