I've used MSN Desktop Search very successfully for several months. I
have a vast number of documents on various partitions, and the search
tool has been invaluable.

Wanted to do a search today, from the MSN Search deskbar; the Desktop
Search Results windows opens with message 'Windows desktop search
engine is starting up. Please wait.', and then nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Is the WDS Tray icon running? (the little magnifying glass?)

If it is, can you right-click on it and click "Indexing Status" to see if
the indexer is running? If you see dashes next to "Items indexed:" it means
the indexer process isn't running. Opening the status dialog should kick it
into starting up. If it doesn't, there's likely a problem with your system
configuration.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, WDS is running. When I select Indexing
Status I get a new window that says "Indexing is starting. Please
wait." Then nothing happens here either.

I will try to uninstall and reinstall and see if this correct the
problem.
