I am running Windows XP 2002, with service pack 2.

I am no longer able to get the search companion, which gives the option to
change preferences as to how you want to search. For Example: photos,
documents rather than files and folders. Something must be turned off either
in the registry or in some obscure menu setting. Can anyone help get my
search companion back. It was very conveninent to use.

If you're just getting the classic search window, download and install
TweakUI for Windows XP. There's an option there to turn the Search Companion
on/off.

Doug: I downloaded Tweak UI and searched it completely and did not find an
option to turn the search companion on/off. I looked at all the entries and
even the tips. Where is the option located.

Thanks for your help

I don't have XP installed right now, but the option is there. Look for "Use
Classic Search" or something very similar.
