 I will soon need a new laptop but want to wait until Windows Vista comes
out.

Does anyone have inside (our outside) info on when it will be reaching the
retail shelves?

Microsoft is shooting for a release in time for Christmas, but there's no
guarantee that they're going to make it. So far Microsoft has been pretty
much batting zero on hitting their planned release dates with NT derived
operating systems.

Yeah, they can't release it 'til their first flock of security patches
is ready for download...:-)

Having it out for Christmas is the goal, but that doesn't mean December
25th, it means the Holiday gift-selling season, which starts much
earlier. They need to be shipping product to the retailers by October.
