Hello
I have an O2 XDA Orbit recently upgraded via the O2 Website to Windows
Mobile 6.
I have a Fiat Grande Punto Sporting motor vehicle with the Fiat
Microsoft Blue&Me Windows Automotive Solution. It provides Bluetooth
Handsfree ; SMS Reader which reads out the txt messages ; USB Media Player
and a platform which can be added to with additional apps.

However my problem is that even though I have a Windows Mobile smartphone
and a Windows Mobile based solution, the SMS Reader does not work.

Could you advise if there is a fix or additional software which I could
install that will enable this to work?

I don't understand how a Sony Ericcson phone with a proprietary OS works
perfectly but a Windows Mobile Smartphone doesn't.

Blue&Me in its concept is brillant.

If you can help in any way or forward this message to the right person I
would be very grateful.

Many Thanks, James

Hello James,

I unfortunately don't have an answer for you but I have a few more
pieces to add to the puzzle. I have taken delivery of a Fiat Bravo
Diesel sport. I have tried to connect my Windows mobile 5 device over
Bluetooth which works fine to start with but stubbornly refuses to
reconnect after you've been away from the car. If you then try to set
it up again it refuses until the third time, weird and very annoying.
I tested the system with a nokia n71 with no problems so its very
frustrating that a Microsoft operating system does work correctly.

I'm currently using an Orange SPV m700, however I am in a fortunate
position to have a few windows mobile devices to try as I am testing
them out for a mobile data project. I should have the new HTC TYTN11
that runs windows mobile 6 by the end of the week and I'm also going
to try a SPV m3100 and SPV M600. I will let you know if any of these
work and it should help identify if this is specifically a windows
mobile problem or device specific.

Hopefully someone else can help.

Regards,

Andrew

Hello Andrew,
Many Thanks for this - good to know I've got support!
Its a shame that no-one from Microsoft has actually bothered to respond.
In your Bravo, do you have Blue&Me Nav?

I have been put in touch with Jetwaremobile.com who has produced a
generic Bluetooth Handsfree Enhancement tool.. I have emailed them regarding
my issues and they are very keen to try and tailor their software to enable
full functionality of Blue&Me.

This however should be as standard from both Microsoft products.

I am pleased to report that by using Jetware, it has added the "Network ID"
on connection of Blue&Me and also has allowed the mobile phone ringtones to
be played over the Stereo.

The only two functions as far as I am aware unable to use is the "SW
Update" and the "SMS Reader".
It would be great to have this ability.

If you would like to discuss further please add me on messenger via email
jetweed8@hotmail.com

Many Thanks,
James.

P.S I am jealous of your gorgeous Bravo!!

Btw it is also reported that trying a different Bluetooth protocol other
than the Microsoft one might prove more successful.
The one that I am advised to use is Widcomm.

I shall play around with this to see what happens!

you report me.
