The most likely answer is YES, you will need to install the Device SDK that
matches the target device. This is defiantly the quickest and "safest"
approach to take.

The long answer is it depends upon your chosen programming
language/environment and how much IDE support you desire.

Hope it helps,
Christopher Fairbairn.

Apps built using an older SDK are very likely to run on newer
platforms. But apps built using a newer SDK are likely to not run on
older platforms; sometimes because Microsoft makes explicit changes,
and sometimes because developers using a new SDK include new features
that are not available on older platforms.

So, if you install only the WM 5 SDK you will very probably build apps
that run on WM 5 and WM 6. You won't be able to use features found
only in WM 6. And you won't be able to debug directly on WM 6 devices
(the IDE won't allow cross-platform debugging), but you will rarely
need to, unless you have only WM 6 devices.

If you install only the WM 6 SDK, you may build apps that don't work
on WM 5. And you won't be able to debug directly.
