On my computer:
Items indexed so far: 395,868
Items left to scan: 729,252
(Size of Desktop Search folder so far: 3.67GB)
What's odd is that even though the "items indexed so far" has gradually
increased to its present level, what happens overnight is that the "items
left to scan" number counts down and eventually reaches 0. At this point
the status message is "Indexing Idle."
So, what's going on? Is WDS scanning the same items over and over? Why
does "items left to scan" reach 0 even though not all items have been
indexed? (As shown by the fact that "items indexed so far" continues to
increase.)
Yes, I know that I am indexing an enormous number of items. At least it's a
good test of the scalability of WDS. So far I'd say it's much better at
handling very large data collections than other desktop search products I've
tried, and I think I've tried all the well-known free ones.
