Yes, what you say is true but whether or not it is a "bad idea" depends. As for
Office 2003 supporting this, it doesn't really. You're referring to the
research task pane I believe which isn't included in 1/2 of the office 2003
programs and those that have it, its not optimized to make finding stuff on an
SPS portal as easily as it should be presuming you integrate it without a "hack"
to boost your portal up alongside the default engines like dictionary, etc.
Plus, this bothers me a lot. They dropped smart tag integration that they had
in SPSv1. At least I've not been able to find an easy way to integrate SPSv2
into your smart tags but if you know of a way, I'd love to hear how.
