 hello there

i am having problems with WDS and searching for items in Windows
Sharepoint Services (WSS).
it will not find anything in sharepoint.
my group policy setup i have the following

intranet,http://servername/_layouts/1033/searchresults.aspx?k=$w

it opens search page ok within sharepoint but just shows no results.
i am using MSDE (sharepoint) not SQL server is this the problem
do i need SQL, it doesnt mention anything on microsofts site regarding
the need for SQL there info on it is brutal.
anyone seen this if so have they sorted and can you let me know

Hmm, that looks right. Silly question, but have you reindexed, restarted the
system or logged off & back in since the policy was applied?

Yes i have reindexed my pc.

But it doesnt index the website.
how does it index it.
all i ever see indexing are emails, files and folders.

surely you dont specify the web address again as its already in your
group policy.

i just dont know what else to do.
really gettin to me now this thing is, really wreckin the head.
microsfot never give you the info you need.

any other thoughts JR

Yes...I have seen this. your documents are stored inside the WMSDE database
which is encrypted by WSS. MSN search will not find your documents. You
will need to load the SQL version which then allows you to use the WSS built
in search.
