Just received the new T-Mobile Shadow and am very impressed. However, one
of the major capabilities I purchased it for does not work!!!

Has anyone found a way to link the Vista Calendar to a WM6 device??

No, because such a feature doesn't exist. Hopefully you weren't explicitly
told it did. WM devices sync with Outlook or Exchange, not Vista Contacts or
Calendar. Kind of a shame and likely surprising, but the divisions at MS
aren't always as synchronized as you would hope. MS mobile devices never
sync'd with anything but Outlook and Exchange.

In the past a copy of Outlook was provided with each MS Mobile device. Also
in the past, third party sync products, like Intellisync, developed
capabilities to other desktop PIMs like Outlook Express and even Palm
Desktop. I do not believe any third party add-ons are available for
Vista/WMDC yet. There have been some web rumors indicating the WMDC team
might be looking at supporting Vista Contacts, and/or Calendar, but these
are as much rumor to me as anyone.

No, I was not explicitely told that Vista Calendar etc would link with
Mobile 6 but it would be an assumption by a RATIONAL individual. In fact
the PDA Tech I first contacted at T-Mobile was very surprised to learn that
it would not!

Unfortunately the version of Office 2007 that I purchased did not come with
Outlook, and the Outlook that came with the Shadow phone is only a 90 day
trial version, and so old that it would not even load with an existing
Office 2007.

Let's hope that the WMDC team will either soon support the sync, or someone
will provide an add-on utility for conversion.

In the interim, I remain another very frustrated Vista user who wishes he
had not given up his Win & Office XP. This is just one of the many reasons
I strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing Vista, stick with
XP!!

I am sorry it is not what you expected, but I honestly wouldn''t hold my
breath for a WMDC or third party solution very soon. You capitalized the
wrong word in the response though, should have been 'assumption'. Lots of
things aren't as you might expect them, the fact that WM devices are
upgradeable doesn't mean they will be. You would think devices with GPS in
their spec like the IMate PDA-N and At&T Tilt would have some GPS
application, neither do. You would think Pocket Streets would accept Routes
from Streets and Trips, and on and on. This is not an item that hasn't been
covered. A search or question before the fact would have saved you this
irritation. I don't think anyone here would tell you a device does something
it doesn't. From personal experience I can't say the same for those that
sell stuff, which is why I inquired about whether you had been told it
would.
