The lines have cleared and I have finally had a chance to see the
iPhone up close and yes, I think it will revolutionize the smartphone
indusry, providing there are no major glitches. It is intuitive
beyond anything I could have imagined and I don't think users will
continue to suffer the long learning curve of a WM machine. That is,
of course, if it's business functions are as efficient as their play
functions, which I did not have a chance to see. If not, Palm, WM and
Blackberry will continue to dominate the business industry.
That said, I did see a demonstration of a Windows powered computer,
perhaps a prototype, that was similarly intuitive, so perhaps
Microsoft is already on it. The computer was embedded into a desk or
table top and evidently had a very sensitive touch screen, and perhaps
heat or motion sensors. The users were moving around objects on the
screen as though they were shuffling real papers. Think air guitar
AND productive.
