I have been unable to connect to my companies Exchange 2003 server using
activesync. When I try to connect to the E2K3 server using OWA, I get
an error message stating that "Information you exchange with this site
cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, the name, date or
issuing authority for the site's security certificate is invalid." I
believe the problem is due to a certificate issue on the server.

The E2k3 server has a wildcard certificate from Go Daddy/Starfield. The
documentation from Go Daddy states that you need the www.valicert.com
certificate in the root certificate store of the WM5 device (Moto Q)in
order to access a server using the wildcard certificate.

I have seen several posts now that say that WM5 does not support
wildcard certificates, which could explain my problem but also raises
several questions.

1) What does not supported mean? It won't work. It may work, but if
you have a problem no help is available.

2) If the wildcard certificate is preventing me from accessing the E2K3
server, then what do I need to do to correct the problem? Can I add a
personal certificate from a trusted third party the Moto Q or do I need
to request my company add an additional certificate to the Exchange
server? Can Exchange have more than one certificate?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi,
Microsoft does not support wildcard digital certificates on Windows Mobile
devices. You can only use standard certs for a specific host.

Not supported in this case means IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. The solution is
to change the cert on the server to a host specific cert and then it can be
installed on the device if it is locally issued.
