I guess for the same reason the popcorn is so expensive in movie
theaters; that's where they make their profits. Due to the competitive
nature of laptop business, the profit margin is probably pretty slim on
the laptops themselves. However, once they sold you the laptop, they
know they hooked you with the accessories and can charge pretty much
what they want.
