 Hi folks. I'm an avid user of Windows Desktop Search, and saw the new
release the other week. I was just wondering if anyone knew when we'd
get the upgrade to existing installs? I don't want to have to uninstall
and then completely reindex everything (and set up all my extra
folders, etc)...

The release a few weeks back was for the corporate/enterprise version. The
consumer version is this one:
http://toolbar.msn.com/?FORM=TLBRFT

The enterprise release is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/desktopsearch/enterprise/toolbar/default.mspx

That's the release I've already got.

And this has got an updated version of WDS, which also replaces the
search companion. So, I was just wondering how to get this version
without having to uninstall everything I've already got setup?

Ah, I see! I have not installed the enterprise version, so I didn't realize that
it was updated. Perhaps it is an update that doesn't improve upon what we've
already got, but provides the hooks for the enterprise stuff. That's only
speculation on my part. If I hear anything, I'll post back, but the consumer
version posted is the latest available.
