Google stock is the price it is because of market fluctuation. Look at the
historical pricing, and you will see that, Google, like everything else is
more expensive now than it was in August 2004. The initial IPO was high
because of demand, and the demand is still there. One of the reasons is
what Google owns - it's not just the search engine anymore.

Google, and most of the engines around make money by selling ads. So you
could say they are an advertising company, an online publisher etc.
