I read that there is suppost to be an Always Ready option with XP SP2. I
have a Gateway 834GM MCE 2005 PC that I bought at the end of July. I do not
see this option anywhere? I did see a reference to something similar but it
said that it would only apply if I was using an "Always on" or "Broadband
Connection". I use a 56k dial up connection.

It has nothing to do with XP SP2. Support for this was added in Media =
Center Update Rollup 2. It is essentially a power state between full =
standby and full on. Video and audio are turned off, but the computer =
(along with all its USB, Firewire and other peripherals are still =
powered and working. It requires a newer motherboard, with one of the =
supported chipsets, and the appropriate drivers. This is a recent =
addition to the market, so if your computer is more than 6 months old =
(just a guess), it probably doesn't support it.
