 Does any one know what causes deleting a folder to take a long time, around
20 seconds? I've defragged in the hopes that would help but I still have a
problem of certain folders taking a long time to delete.

Depends on how many files are in the folder. The more files the longer it
takes.

Delete has to delete all of the files before it can remove the folder. And
it goes one file at a time.

And the delegation of the files takes longer on Vista then on XP since the
indexes that referenced the file also have to be updated.
