Hi there,

I have recently downgraded to AS 3.8 so that I can specify which catagories
I want to sync for my calendar and tasks but now for some strange reason on
one of my PC's I have checked which catagories I only want synced but
ActiveSync does not remove the tasks/appointments from the catagories that I
don't want on the PDA.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 3.8 and I have even deleted the
folder in Application Data for the PDA and even removed and recreated
partnerships but nothing is working.

Any help is appreciated.

RGDS & TIA

Curtis M.

PS I noticed that this issue occurs as well on my second PDA but it does not
occur on the second computer that I sync both PDA's with

The filter is one way only - from the desktop to the device, not in
reverse. Best bet is to delete the partnership, recreate the
partnership, and when the wizard asks you what you want to do with
your data tell it to delete all data on the device and replace it with
the data on the computer.

Note that the categories must be set the same on both computers, due
to the fact that the category sync only works one way.

Rob,

I just did a hard reset and it fixed it on the one computer that was not
working but now it is not working on the initial computer that was working
before.

Any other suggestions?

Curtis

As stated, the sync mechanism works one way - from desktop to
computer, and not the other way around. If there is a
contact/appointment/etc. in a category on the device that you have not
selected to be synchronized on the desktop, it will come down to the
desktop. In addition, it will not delete anything on the PDA that you
have selected to not be synchronized - it just won't move them onto
the device, but if they are already on the device they will remain
there AND move down to your desktop computer.

There is nothing you can do - this is the way the functionality was
designed. IntelliSync (http://www.intellisync.com) has two-way
filters.

Rob,

So does this mean if I delete the items that I don't want on my PDA
ActiveSync will not put them back onto the PDA but will store them on my PC?

Just trying to understand the way ActiveSync works.

Thanks
